25 Years and Counting - Reflecting on a Wonderful Anniversary Year
What a fantastic 25th year we had at Russo & Gould! Thank you to our clients and friends for your continued support these 25 years. We enjoyed a busy year; below are some highlights that we wanted to share.
Our increasing client needs meant growing numbers for the firm. We added two partners - Michael Kivowitz joined us in March 2022 and Cecil Floyd was promoted to partner. We also welcomed Emily Mann and Patrice Coleman as of counsel, senior associates Audrey Medd and John Magrino, and associate Nima Baratzadeh.
Courts opened up again and our attorneys were there from the start. David Gould won a defense verdict for a firm client in Kings County, in one of the first jury trials after the pandemic paused in-person trials. We successfully represented many clients, winning defense verdicts, appellate victories, motions to dismiss and summary judgmentsthroughout the year.
Super Lawyers again recognized a number of our attorneys. Firm founder Alan Russo and partner Kevin Horbatiuk were named as Super Lawyers. Partner Florina Altshiler and associates Marcin Kurzatkowski and Fallon Mulerman-Orer were all named as Rising Stars.
Education was at the forefront for us this year, with our attorneys presenting CLEs and other programs. Alan Russo and Marie Castronuovo appeared on a DRI webinar and an AM Best podcast about nuclear verdicts and social inflation. Florina Altshiler was an instructor for NITA’s Trial Skills Program and was named to Lawline’s Top Women Faculty list for the fourth year. NBI hosted our attorneys a few times, with David Gould and Dan Schiavetta presenting programs. We continue to publish insights to help our clients and friends of the firm, both on our website and in other publications. Articles this year included a look at how the Grieving Families Act would affect litigation in New York State and an overview of exposure and pitfalls for contractors, owners, and subcontractors. And we lost track of how many times Florina was on TV, providing insightful commentary on a number of high profile trials.
Community is important to us, as a firm and as individuals. We were proud to fight food insecurity by supporting Feeding America again this year. Our partners Kevin Horbatiuk and Florina Altshiler were found helping others both near and far.
We look forward to whatever the next 25 years brings! Happy Holidays!
