Audrey Medd Wins Bench Trial in Connecticut Housing Court
Congratulations to Audrey Medd who secured a defense verdict for her landlord-client in a Connecticut Housing Court matter, Nicole Peak v. One Properties, LLC, NBHCV245004450S, heard before Judge Thamar Esperence-Smith.
In this matter, the plaintiff alleged the landlord’s failure to maintain the premises and claimed the following violations in her complaint: 1) failure to repair and/or maintain the sewage system resulting in a sewage backup; 2) failure to repair and/ or remediate a pest infestation; 3) failure to repair and/or maintain floor in the bathroom; 4) failure to remediate mold; and 5) failure to repair the kitchen sink. The plaintiff filed the present action, seeking relief pursuant to pursuant to General Statutes § 47a-14h.
The Court found that, at Trial, the defendant’s witnesses were credible and that there was no evidence submitted by plaintiff that found any of the above violations. The Court, Judge Thamar Esperence-Smith,found for the defendant-landlord and ordered plaintiff to pay damages in the amount of back rent. Way to go Audrey on this great win!
